Healthy living is currently a trend for many people. However, maintaining health today is not as easy as imagined due to the emergence of several threats that cannot be predicted in advance. One of the health threats that currently must be faced is 3-MCPD contamination in cooking oil or processed cooking oil products.
3-MCPD is not a chemical added to oil, but this compound is formed accidentally during the production process or in the process of fertilizing plants, considering that vegetable oils are managed from plants. One of the processes that cause the formation of 3-MCPD compounds is the heating process at very high temperatures.
As discussed in the previous article, 3-MCPD is harmful to the human body so that the amount that can be tolerated for consumption is very limited. Considering these dangers, it would be better to choose coconut cooking oil whose 3-MCPD content is below the predetermined standard. However, to ensure the amount of 3-MCPD content in cooking oil, a research process carried out by an agro laboratory is needed. This is because 3-MCPD does not provide physical signs that can be seen by the eye.
Mamaco, as one of the coconut cooking oils in Indonesia, is aware of the dangers of 3-MCPD and it is not easy to detect the compound. So to ensure the quality of the oil that reaches consumers, Mamaco has conducted oil tests at the Agro laboratory in Amsterdam to determine the value of the 3-MCPD content in Mamaco's products. From the results of the Agro laboratory test, Mamaco's 3-MCPD content is stated to be still below the specified standard so that Mamaco is safe for consumption.
